THE SOUL TALKERS

Don, Larissa and Rachael meet in the Fresh blood party amidst weird circumstances and being a wordsmith, he displays his verbal skills to Rachael, leading her to an embarrassing situation. This prompts a dangerous reaction from her as she physically assaults him, becoming the first in a line-up of incidences between these three young people. Subsequently, the two girls fall in love with him, and this does not go well with Rachael’s ex, the notorious Pontius Pilate and as well, her longtime admirer, the well-built Mahmud Mustapha, who’s also an excellent poet. Don joins the Soul Talkers Poetry contest and his prowess makes him even more famous, but also having a devastating effect on his rivalry with Pontius Pilate and his relationships with the two girls. Circumstances get messy at the semi-finals of the poetry contest between him and Larissa, giving Rachael the opportunity to pounce as she tries winning his heart by all means. Don, on the other hand, gets more confused, increasing the uncertainty of making a decision. With the finals just around the corner and situations becoming even more intriguing, rivalry becomes friendship and friendship becomes ‘soft-enmity’, Don is faced with the up-hill task of claiming two prizes, but he may end up having just one or even none at all. His fans are in great expectation, likewise his family and friends, but above all, his heart expects much more. How will it be? Will he disappoint anyone?

    I agree with this

“The Soul Talkers is not your typical kind of thriller as its story beams intrigue which increases in intensity from page one to the end. Truly, I was left in awe after reading it. What an excellent piece, please get it listed on Amazon so that it gets the traffic it deserves

  2. Rebecca Matthew on January 10, 2020 at 2:14 pm

Unbelievable! Simply unbelievable! You deserve to be traditionally published, but I can see that you are doing so well on your on as your ads are flooded around the net.

The ‘Cookers rule” should get to relevant football governing bodies, FIFA or UEFA.. This is an excellent piece

  3. Franca P on January 10, 2020 at 2:16 pm

The story, the poems, the suspense, the love triangle and above all, the creativity.

The ‘Cooker’s rule’ is a lovely idea.. Please get it out there, beyond your book. You are indeed a great talent

  4. Rose Summer on January 11, 2020 at 6:40 am

One of the best work I’ve read in a long while. I love the Pontius Pirlate character. And yes, this book should be a movie. Good luck with that.

    Definitely a 5 star novel.

  5. Gold Winehousd on January 11, 2020 at 6:45 am

I’m a Nottingham forest fan and I’m so jealous of Arsenal and Chelsea right now. This book will further promote these two football clubs if it goes far.

And yeah, get “the cooker’s rule” to d right Authorities. It deserves some serious consideration. You are simply a genius. next is “the bastard citizen”.. The title alone itches my mind.

  6. Gary H on January 11, 2020 at 6:50 am

Your book ad was persistently present on my webspace which eventually got me getting a copy. I’m glad I did. It is such a brilliant piece. I’ll suggest you spend more effort on advertising it via Amazon. Doing this on this platform is not bad at all but may undermine your book sales and truly underrated this masterpiece. I’ll be getting another work of yours. Great book. I truly enjoyed it.

  7. Michelle jones on January 11, 2020 at 6:57 am

I totally agree with Gar H. Your book is masterclass. Boy! I got angry when I read the last page. Get it on Amazon, you’ll also get good reviews that will be taken seriously. No matter how encouraging our comments are, some may not still appreciate them. But I must say, you made me abandon everything Judy to red this book. Weldone Finom! I’ll try and get “the bastard citizen” that title already stirs up my spirit.

  8. Anna Greenwood on January 11, 2020 at 7:05 am

OMG! OMG! I’m speechless. The poems are actually top-notch. The pick-up lines in the chapter 1 are dope. Your portrayal of the main character, his charisma, his strong personality is mesmerizing. I’m literally getting crazy just by the mere imagination of him. It’s an understatement to say you are prolific. This book is the bomb and hell yeah! It should definitely be a movie. If produced and directly right, it should be a block buster.

  9. Morgan Bestman on January 11, 2020 at 1:18 pm

You’ve proven all the stereotypes against self publishing wrong with your works. After reading the very intense “the bastard citizen” I cane here to read comments to my wonder of how “the soul talkers” could be better. Alas! It’s such an extraordinary piece.

You are right on one thing, its a different kind of thriller with an evolving suspense as the story goes on. Pontius pirlate, the football match, the jokes and insults, ‘the cooker’s rule”… Its blend of all these fantastic characters and events is superb.. As for the poems, I’m short of words for them. Good job mate, I’ve purchased “the devil’s orchid and I cannot wait for it’s arrival.

The Soul Talkers must be a movie.

  10. Sydney O on January 11, 2020 at 1:20 pm

Enough said already, The Soul Talkers is extraordinary. Please make it a movie.

  11. Tosin Wasiu on January 11, 2020 at 1:23 pm

I’m proud to be a Nigerian right now. I’m give you a shout out from Atalanta, Georgia. This book will definitely go places.

You have to promote “the cooker’s rule”

  12. Ben Carrington on January 11, 2020 at 1:29 pm

With all the comments here already, do I need to still say something? Well, the book is definitely a British story but I feel, much of your dialogues, especially the insults, sound American. Nevertheless, it is worth reading. I had to read it again; to tell you the level at which I truly enjoyed it. It’s even more amazing, realizing you are Nigerian. You’ve got the stuff in you man! I’m clicking on your next work.

  13. Angel Wellington on January 11, 2020 at 1:34 pm

I live in a small county in Colorado and trust me, my street is already ‘soul talked’ hahaha. Boy! I’m stunned. I’m short of words. As an avid reader of novels, I must say that you took my breath away. I’ve enjoyed several stories in my life but this one is just so different. Please, do your best to make this a film. I don’t know how, but since you are in this writing business, you should have the networks and connections to make it happen.

  14. Rebecca Mark on January 11, 2020 at 1:37 pm

Goodness me! I’m already in love with you, Funom. I’ve read more than half a thousand books in my life and I can confidently tell you that, not more than a dozen are better than this work. Keep it up Funom. I’m definitely picking another work of yours.

  15. Ben Volt on January 11, 2020 at 3:06 pm

I agree with everything said here. This is an outstanding book.

    “Cooker’s rule” rocks.

  16. Clara O on January 11, 2020 at 3:07 pm

Oh… I’m in love with Don Cooker, where can I find him?

  17. Kate Brooks on January 11, 2020 at 3:09 pm

    @ Clara O. LoLs!
Ask the amazing Funom for his whereabout. The Soul Talkers is gold.

  18. Greeman Steppaman on January 11, 2020 at 3:14 pm

The title sounds feminine so I got a copy for my 17 year old daughter as a gift. But as I type this, I’ve ordered for the remaining books by Funom Makama.
Funom, your writing style is legendary and after reading the comments and the synopsis of your other books, I could not afford wasting time getting them. Your writing talent is very clear Funom. Keep it up mate.

  19. George Winterton on January 12, 2020 at 12:17 am

Your choice of book titles is very intelligent and smart. The bastard citizen, the soul talkers….etc. I came to this page through your google ad which has refused to leave my web space. I was then skeptical reading a lot of wonderful comments here, as it could as well be you writing them. But when I finally purchased this book and read it, I was glad and felt honored. What more can I say than what has already been written already? Do your best to get it listed in Amazon and then ensure this great work becomes a movie. It’ll definitely be a good movie. Good work Funom!

  20. Anton Vikalovich on January 12, 2020 at 12:21 am

George just took the words from my mouth. This is a wonderful work Funom. It amazes me that you self publish this work. Did you even try sending an abstract to literary agents or you just rushed to get published via self publishing? You have a great task ahead of you to expose your outstanding works to the world and it seems you are already doing a great job. Weldone Funom.

  21. Mary peters on January 12, 2020 at 12:24 am

    I’m in love with Don.
An outstanding work. Can’t just get over the poems. Poetry is in you Funom.

  22. Hilary Hunter on January 12, 2020 at 12:26 am

All along while reading this extraordinary piece, it played in my mind like a movie. It definitely has a blockbuster potential. The talent is in you.

  23. Kamara O Kamara on January 12, 2020 at 12:29 am

    Outstanding!

    Extraordinary Funom.

  25. Pop Daddy on January 12, 2020 at 12:33 am

A story, so delicious. Your awesome craft is second to none… Another Chinamanda in the making.

  27. Mzubsthellani zondumimonni on January 12, 2020 at 6:59 am

You are a prolific writer Funom! Your craft is powerful, your lens is global. Your writing style is amazing. You have a way of maintaining the tempo as you keep your story intriguing from the beginning to the end. Anytime I leave the book to do something else, my mind is not at peace. My soul never left the book until I finished it. You are really good! If you list it on Amazon, I’ll do well to help you with a good review. I’m not surprised by the comments I’m reading here, please do well to make it a movie.

  28. Rose Fisherman on January 12, 2020 at 7:08 am

Creativity at its best. Brilliance at its brightest, to give entertainment in full. As I read it, a movie played in my head, so it isn’t even a question whether to make it a movie or not. The soul talkers MUST be a movie. Another thing, UEFA should be contacted to know about the cooker’s rule in this book. A great work Funom.

  29. Paul Limerick on January 12, 2020 at 7:13 am

I’m a student of English and trust me, this book is outstanding. The writing style, choice of words, use of English are all amazing. M colleagues are already rushing to get their copies. If I can get in touch with you Funom, I’ll love to invite you for a bookfare in Dublin. I’ll find a way to reach you. Great work Funom.

  30. Cicilia Tucker on January 12, 2020 at 1:30 pm

You mean to say, there is, not even one literary agent who saw this worthy of traditional publishing? This book is awesome, awesome, so awesome.
I agree with all others here, it’ll be a great movie.

  31. Mimi Finewine on January 12, 2020 at 1:32 pm

    Perfect all round.
The cooker’s rule is dope. Let football continue to evolve.

  32. Bruce Vondabolt on January 12, 2020 at 1:34 pm

All I can say is “WOW!”

  33. Miller Moose on January 12, 2020 at 1:36 pm

I laughed when I came here to read all positive comment, but since the ad kept persisting, I had to take my chance, all I can say is HELL YEAH! To an incredibly awesome book. I’ll try another. What a talent!

  34. Princess Boadi on January 12, 2020 at 1:40 pm

Excellent piece of work from my African brother

  35. Elizabeth S on January 12, 2020 at 1:58 pm

It was unbelievable when I read the copyright, just after the end of the story to realize that all poems used in this book are written by the Author himself. This is truly amazing! Your gift is great and I love this book so much. Being human alone is enough to love your poems whether one loves poetry or not. I’ll check your next work out.

  36. Silvester Morgan on January 12, 2020 at 2:04 pm

I cannot remember the last time I was overwhelmed by a Novel like this. Funom! You’ve got the stuff in you. The story is more amazing than the comments here; your creativity is superb, the football is as real as watching one live match and like someone has already stated here, the cooker’s rule can still be promoted from this book for UEFA to look into.

Nice work Funom, your investment in google ads is surely paying off.

  37. Clara James on January 12, 2020 at 2:06 pm

Wow! Not even one negative comment, are you for real? Your work is well deserved of these responses. You’re simply a genius.

I love this book with the whole of my heart. I won’t get tired of reading it.

  41. The Rugged Mountain Climber on January 13, 2020 at 12:03 am

You are fucking brilliant man! You are a genius and guess what! Your cookers rule has crossed my mind several times, being an Arsenal fan. When we beat Bayern Munich 2-0 in the Allianz Arena but lost 1-3 in the Emirates, which was same with Monacco, somewhere inside me felt injustice because, if not for the away goals’ rule, we we’re more justified to go through since we scored in both legs, in both occasions but our opponents didn’t. Send a detailed mail to UEFA about this rule to educate them about it.

This book is rich in creativity, entertainment, substance and good language use. Keep it up Funom.

  42. Maureen Weston on January 13, 2020 at 12:09 am

It seems I’m thrilled first to land on this page, not through Google ads, but via Facebook. The book description is catchy and facinating. The comments here are orgasmic. I doubt if anyone will read these comments and not try getting hold of this book. I did and I’m glad. Words alone cannot appreciate the immense talent Funom Makama has. I’m British and I’m proud that a Nigerian is promoting the British culture. This story will make a great film and I’ll find a way to contact you about that. You’ve done a great job mate.

  43. Nicki Batton on January 13, 2020 at 12:13 am

  44. Cristina Felix on January 13, 2020 at 12:17 am

Wow! I’m short of words. Everything said here is just a fraction of how I wanna burst out, expressing myself about this extraordinary piece. You a definitely talented. You have it in you, I looked up this website of yours to discover how handsome you look. What a being! Beautiful in and out! Great work on the soul talkers.

Thank you for the character “Mahmud Mustapha”. You will enlighten a lot about the peace-loving middle-eastern men. Also, like others have pointed out, promote the cookers rule for relevant bodies to take note. This will be a plus to you and your book.

  48. Pierce Darlington on January 13, 2020 at 7:46 am

I’m a die-hard Chelsea fan and I’m pleased the way you also propagated my beloved football club. You are so good with words. I’ve always known Nigerian writers to be excellent novelists. Chinwe Achebe lives in you. A great work!

  49. Ms. Cynthia Henshaw on January 13, 2020 at 7:59 am

The first two times I came across your Facebook ad, I hissed and passed “another self published Amateur”, I said. But when I came across it the third time, I reluctantly clicked on it to find myself on this page. The book summary and your elevator’s pitch is fascinating, the comments here are unbelievable, I have joined in the choir of praises after finish reading it some minutes ago.

Your imagination is powerful, your style of writing is so direct, you don’t meander scenes or narrations. You keep to the point, keeping the reader like me in suspense without any unnecessary descriptions and stories. I just wonder how you are able to hit this amount of pages with such a direct style. There’s no doubt, I’ll follow the trend by reading your next work.
You are truly an amazing writer.

  50. Nathan Luke on January 13, 2020 at 8:01 am

God damn! This must be a movie. As I read it, a movie played out in my head. I just couldn’t stop reading this book since I started. I have one or two contacts who might want to help see how this can be a movie. If we make a headway, you’ll be contacted.

  54. Rebecca West on January 13, 2020 at 4:20 pm

Anytime I read about The Pontius Pirlate, Ed Westwick comes to my mind, from his role as Chuck Bass in the gossip girl. If this should be a movie, please, contact him for his services in that role. I hear the voice of Joseph Morgan when I read the words of the moderator. It’s my humble suggestion. These guys will make these roles heavenly.

    • Funom Makama on January 14, 2020 at 3:53 pm

Oh my God! Exactly the inspiration for Pontius Pirlate. Chuck Bass ran through my mind all through as I developed that character. You are indeed insightful. I will consider your “morgan” recommendation, I think it is also a brilliant idea.

  58. Hazel Greywinter on January 13, 2020 at 4:25 pm

I love Don, I love Pontius even more. Why would he be from a notorious monster to a cry baby looking for love? Though weird, you still found a way to normalize that drastic change. Great piece. I really really really love your poems

  59. Emerald Darlington on January 13, 2020 at 4:27 pm

Keep it up Funom, you need to be traditionally published because that comes with a lot of benefits, like submitting your work for major literature contests and competitions, most of which kick against self-publishing. You are 7 stars

I am in love with Don Cooker. Funom, what should I do now? Please take me to Don Cooker, show me where he is, where he lives and what he is currently up to now. I love Don so much

  87. Nicole Crystal on March 26, 2020 at 3:13 am

definitely a 5 star for me. Creativity and poetry at their best.
You should have this corona pandemic to thank if not, I wouldn’t have bothered clicking on the google ad to read a self published book. From the comments I read here, I will definitely go for another of your work.

  88. Edgardo Ocampo Mercado on March 26, 2020 at 3:14 am

You do not deserve to be an underrated Author Funom. This is the second work of yours I am reading and boy! You kept me glued in one place until I finished both books. You sure put in a lot of work in these stories and my hat is off to you for your unbelievable creativity. I hate football but loved the way you described the match even though I wanted Don’s team to win it. Quality writing on a great story.
You need to go global and I wish you the best with that Funom

  89. Debra Hendricks on March 26, 2020 at 3:14 am

This piece has removed the corona panic in me. You are a genius. Great story, awesome creativity and yeah, it should definitely be a movie. Wishing you the very best with that

    THE COOKER’S RULE!

Thank you so much for this story Funom. I enjoyed it from start to finish.

  91. Akeya Bates on March 26, 2020 at 3:16 am

Contrary to some comments here, I must say that you re doing well without Amazon. If your google ads strategy plus this website of yours is doing well getting readers for you, I will say you should stick to your strategy. The same way may not work for everyone and judging by the unbelievable comments I read here (if they are true), you seriously do not need Amazon and that breakthrough will surely come if you continue at this pace. I have influence 7 of my friends and relatives to purchase ‘The Soul Talkers” and this is how it will continue until the needed hand grabs a copy to read and help you make it a movie.

The Soul Talkers truly deserves to be a movie and all I can do is to wish you the very best because this is a world-class masterpiece full of entertainment, intrigue, some suspense and creativity.
    GoodLuck Funom

This book is driving me crazy. It’s hypnotizing because all I think of is its characters, especially the main one- Don Cooker.
Please make it a movie. I am very sure that no film agent who lays hand on this work will not ignore it. So I will be anticipating “the Soul Talkers” film very soon.
    Good work Funom.

I’ve been using WordPress on a number of websites for about a year and am worried about switching to another platform. I have heard great things about blogengine.net. Is there a way I can import all my wordpress posts into it? Any kind of help would be really appreciated!

  115. Sal Seivad on June 15, 2020 at 1:20 pm

This is unbelievable. I never knew an indie Author can impress me this way. The English construction, suspense and intriguing nature of how the story is told is amazing. No mincing of words, no heavy descriptions and yet Funom, you are able to hit over 300 pages of this amazing, amazing, so amazing work.

A movie will give justice of this work and please, do not settle for less. Take your time and find a good agent or movie studio that will give quality to this story that it deserves.

The cooker’s rule is cool also. Chase the dream of making it a standard with UEFA please.

  116. Chrissa Fabella on June 15, 2020 at 1:22 pm

This should be a movie mate. It is an exceptional piece. I was gutted when I finished reading it. I need another work of yours.. I will be checking on that “Bastard Citizen”. The title is provocative and judjing from my experience of your work, I think that should be another cracker.

  133. Demetrius King on June 16, 2020 at 10:22 am

Despite Don’s strong personality, Pontius Pirlate is the best character for me in this book, man! You did a fantastic job with your stories and characters.

  134. Sean Whtiaker on June 16, 2020 at 10:24 am

I love the accompanying video. I totally agree with you, Ed Westwick should act Pontius Pirlate

  135. Edward Armstrong on June 16, 2020 at 10:26 am

Oh God! The Chuck Bass character was in my mind all through anytime I read the Pontius Pirlate character. Wow! Your writing is so good that you can even connect with your readers on a deeper level. I agree with you in getting Ed Westwick to act that character if made a movie.

  136. Hamilton F.S on June 16, 2020 at 10:29 am

    An exceptional book: YES
Should be a good movie: YES
    Ed Westwick to act: YES
Ed Westwick to act Pontus Pirlate: ABSOLUTELY YES

  137. Michelle Ventour on June 16, 2020 at 10:31 am

There is nothing I would say that hasn’t been said already. But your video clip is amazing, it gave me goosebumps. Edweswick is the perfect guy to act Pontius Pirlate, that ran through my mind several times. You are truly amazing Funom, because for a sec, while reading your book, I thought you simply lifted the Chuck Bass character into Pontius Pirlate.

  138. Holly Cooper on June 16, 2020 at 10:34 am

YES, YES, YES! I love this video, I was also thinking about it too. Your book just have to be a movie and Ed Westwick is the best choice for the Pontius Pirlate character. You are amazing and “the Soul Talkers” movie will definitely be a blockbuster.

  139. Charlita Mskay on June 16, 2020 at 10:37 am

The comments here have said it all. There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG with this book and story. As for this video clip? Sure! Ed Westwick is the best for the British Roman thug’s character.

    Amazing, amazing, amazing book.

Put promoting “the cooker’s rule” in mind also.

  140. Stewart Strongssgerin on June 16, 2020 at 10:40 am

What an amazing story. I enjoyed the read from start to finish. yes, make it a movie and yes again, Ed Westwick should act the Pontius Pirlate character.

Joseph Morgan as the moderator is also a good choice. I am sure that you considered his high pitch, fast pace voice as a yardstick for selecting him. you have once again shown that you are a genius and a deep thinker.

I do not know Ed Westwick or Joseph Morgan, but what I know is: this extraordinary book SHOULD be a movie. Oh Funom, I truly enjoyed your work. This book should have contained 10,000 pages.

  145. Rhonda Rae on June 16, 2020 at 10:48 am

You made my lockdown great after reading two of your books (the bastard citizen inclusive) and all I can say is WOW! You are an amazing writer Funom, so amazing. I don’t just know what to say, just keep writing, your global shine is near. From all the comments I have read so far, you are closer than you think, of becoming a household name. You are definitely talented.

Nigeria has always had outstanding writers, so I am not surprised. Funom, keep the fire burning, your talent will glow for the world to see very soon. Please, do all you can to make this wonderful piece a movie. I will love to see ‘The Soul talkers” Film.

  147. Marc Claury Rosembert on June 16, 2020 at 10:53 am

you’ve not only got talent, you’ve got guts, a strong will and confidence. having Joseph Morgan and Ed Westwick act in “the soul talkers” movie will be a great project because these two amazing actors will already make the movie a successful one by default. I love how you chase your dream and this makes me think Don Cooker is a reflection of you, the Author.

best of luck in making this project a movie. It deserves to be because the story is a 9.5/10 for me.

  152. Prince Alhaji Sita Zamani on June 23, 2020 at 10:42 am

Why not go on instagram, find uefa or fifa’s official handle and write to them about the cooker’s rule? That idea makes a lot of sense and it wil be lovely if it can be made official in the world of football. You talent and ideas should not be hidden because you have them in surplus.
    Nice work funom.

  153. Hanan Robinson on June 23, 2020 at 10:42 am

  157. Callie Gentry on June 23, 2020 at 10:48 am

I cried in the quarter finals of the competition. Wow! Funom, you are creative, wise and so so so so talented in writing. My heart was literally in my mouth all the time. The height of the adrenaline was in the semi-finals. Great work funom. Please, it has to be a movie.

I am glad I read this book in a time Arsena football club is dashing the little hope left in us. Thank you for sustaining the insignificant fragment left. I am sure the Arsenal-Bayern two legged games (3-3) and the Arsenal-Monacco two legged games (3-3) came to your mind when creating the cooker’s rule. I love the idea behind it, please, get it across to uefa. I am glad it is in your book, no one can steal the idea from you.

    Dorris

  160. Rajendra Mungal Singh on June 23, 2020 at 10:53 am

LOL. The exam hitler has been defeated in his own game. I love every bit of this book. By the way, my dad’s name is Biswajit and he is exactly what you described of him.

    Weldone Funom.

  161. Si Gute on June 23, 2020 at 10:55 am

Your sense of description is apt. How you described the ladies, Don’s room, the football match, the stage performances, the moderator’s speeches, the tease in chapter 1. You are an amazing writer Funom.

Please, the soul talkers MUST be a movie.

  162. Dhat Bowry Kelly on June 23, 2020 at 11:00 am

The Cooker’s Rule should be made officially accepted in the football world
The Soul Talkers should be a movie produced and directed by world class professionals so that it becomes a blockbuster
Ed Westwick should take up the role of Pontius Pirlate
Jospeh Morgan should take up the role of the moderator
Nathalie Emmanuel or Jorgi Smith should take up the role of Rachael
Raleigh Ritchie should take up Don’s role
Funom Makama should be a household name in this novel writing business
I, Kelly, should be fulfilled and pleased if all these wishes were granted.

    You are a genius Funom

  163. JSP Meredith on June 23, 2020 at 11:15 am

I think it is selfish of you @Dhat Bowry Kelly to attribute all the major roles to british actors. American actors can as well do a marvelous job playing these characters even with some british accent. This book is too good to be true. Funom, you have enormous talent.

  164. Sharon Sprowls on June 23, 2020 at 11:17 am

@Meredith, you re right. An actor like Gaius Charles for instance will be perfect for the Don Cooker’s role. This book has to be a movie.

    Great work Funom

  165. Candace Clay Bennete on June 23, 2020 at 11:20 am

@Meredith, I will recommend Derek Luke to act the Don Cooker’s character, then Lauryn Alisa Mcclain to act the Rachael’s character. This book is one in a zillion. Is it just me or anyone else have the same experience: I have developed a sentimental attachment to the book even after reading it with the hope I will always find time to read it over and over again.

  166. Tyrone Payne on June 23, 2020 at 11:23 am

This is an awesome book. It is nice to see the face of the Author. I am wishing you good luck in making it a movie because your work truly deserve to be a huge success.

    Tyrone.

  167. Marcia Sukhnandan on June 23, 2020 at 11:25 am

A great story deserves a great movie and your story teling ability, I must say is, top notch. Get it out there funom and make it a movie as you’ve already started attempting. Goodluck in your attempts and do not forget all the advice you have already received on “The Cooker’s rule” Here. That is an amazing idea the football world should know about.

    Cheers

  168. Obang Omot on June 23, 2020 at 11:28 am

    This is a great story

    please make it a movie

@ Meredith, I think Tyler James Williams (everybody hates Chris) has grown up to be a young man with some charisma that will properly fit into the character “Don Cooker”. Have you heard of Raven Symone? She will be perfect for the Dirty Diana’s role.

  169. Nadezhda NK on June 23, 2020 at 11:32 am

@Obang Omot, Raven Symone is too old for that role. Though I know that make up can make her younger again to fit into that character, why not look for a better fit person like Keke Palmer? She is young, energetic, playful and with the ability to express both a strong personality and a rough one. It’s just my take anyway.

Funom, it is a wise decision to make this extra-ordinary piece of yours a movie. I especially congratulate you for hitting 90,000+ sales. That is amazing for an indie Author since you guys are faced with a lot of challenges to break through. I hope to see the film soon.

    Nadia

  170. Arnold Watts Sr. on June 23, 2020 at 11:34 am

You are an excellent Author Funom. I will surely visit the other pages to see if I can get hold of your other works. @Meredith, I think Brian White is a better option for the “Don Cokker’s” role while Coco Jones should be chosen to play the Rachael Smith Character.

  171. Gopie Singh on June 23, 2020 at 11:36 am

I like the game of actors recommendations going on here. It is obvious that we all enjoyed this book. Funom, you have the talent in you. If you may ask me, I will say, just go for british actors/actresses to maintain the originality of this work without putting in much stress. You are amazing, truly amazing.

  172. Kathryn Bowen on June 23, 2020 at 11:38 am

Yes! Yes! Funom, while reading this book, a movie was in play in my mind. So, it would be great if it is made a movie, so please do not rush it, don’t be desperate, take your time and select the best professionals that should be able to handle this great story to be a blockbuster.

@Meredith Chris O’Neil is my take on the Don’s character.

  173. Ronewa Mahaso on June 23, 2020 at 11:41 am

A wonderful story Funom. Wishing you all the best in making it a movie.

May I join in this game of recommendations? I will pick Destiny Edmond to play the Rachael’s role while of course, Jesse T. Miller Usher has the strong personality and charisma to fit into Don Cooker’s role perfectly.

  174. Favour Chibuoke on June 23, 2020 at 11:45 am

@Ronewa…. Are you for real? Destiny Edmond is too ugly for the role (sorry, I do not mean to disrespect). I will pick Logan Browning to play that role well. As for the Don Cooker’s role, I will pick my 9ja brother in diaspora: John Boyega. That guy is good and beyond exceptional.

This is a great book Funom.

Funom, you have an excellent story telling ability. The Don Cooker’s personality is mesmerizing and you’ve made me fall in love with Arsenal football club despite the shame and bad reputation of failure attibuted to the club. I hope to see the movie soon.

  176. Patience B Mokoenna on June 23, 2020 at 11:49 am

I am not surprise with the numerous positive comments you are getting here, Funom. I have read your book and I must say that it is amazing. I love everybit of it. You want it to be a movie? That is an awesome idea, please make it happen.

  177. Kayeia Gordon on June 23, 2020 at 11:51 am

Awesome! Extraordinary! Beyond Excellence! Funom, you are soaked in talent and creativity. GOSH! I truly lack words to say. Please make it a movie. I would love to see it sooner than expected.

  178. Oscar Rodriguez Amaya on June 23, 2020 at 11:53 am

SHIT! Fucking Amazing. This book is dope. A movie would be fucking great dude. I laugh at all the recommendations. Get Denzel Whitaker to act as Don and Amanda Stenbera to act as Rachael and see your bank account having wet dreams.

  179. Saida Sunani on June 23, 2020 at 11:56 am

@Meredith: Pooch Hall for Don, Gracie Marie Bradley for Rachael. Finito!

@Funom, The Cooker’s Rule should be an active rule in football right now, please also do something about it.

  181. Philip Wright on June 23, 2020 at 12:10 pm

All these comments and not even a single criticism, are these responses even real? It is either you are removing the criticms or you are the one writing them yourself.

Well the book is not bad, the story is dope, but why on earth would you use “General White” on Don? I understand you are trying to use that on the basis of his love for white and white clothes, but left for me, you are still using ‘white’ to validate a black man. We do not need that Funom and with all the nick names, the “something-philosopher” and great hype in personality you have expressed Don to have, using “General White” isn’t necessary. I got very angry with that and I felt there was absolutely no need for it. That nickname was not paramount in any subsequent events after chapter 1. But asides this, I think you did great in your story telling.

    Philip Wright

  182. Emmaroggi Emmaroggi H. on June 23, 2020 at 12:13 pm

Great story telling Funom. @ Meredith Chloe Bailey will be the best to play the Rachael’s role. As for the Don’s character, I will go for Trevor Jackson.

I just can’t wait for the movie.

  183. Rex Bassett on June 23, 2020 at 12:15 pm

EXACTLY! @Philip Wright. His use of “General White’ was still for the validation of an already powerful and mesmerizing character with a strong personality in Don Cooker. that nickname wasn’t needed at all. But overall, the story telling is breath taking, amazing, unique and truly worth of becoming a movie.

  184. Niaja Zhane on June 23, 2020 at 12:41 pm

@Candice Bennette, Yeah right? I have same sentimental attachment, I hold this book darely with this instinctive hope that I will be reading it almost everytime.

    Funom, you are a genius

  185. Siyaba Trendisa Jesu on June 23, 2020 at 12:43 pm

Thank you Philip Wright for the “General White” observation. That is the only flaw in this magnificient masterpiece. I love this work.

  186. Marcia Sasser on June 23, 2020 at 12:46 pm

I don’t think anyone has the kind of sentimental attachment that I have to this book… I love everything about this book, @Candice Bennette, I understand you very well.

  187. Sharon Turner on June 23, 2020 at 12:47 pm

Funom, you are a great writer, a wonderful story teller, a creative personality and an awesome poet. I love this work of yours so much.

  188. Soso Ngamla on June 23, 2020 at 12:51 pm

Great book Funom and please, make it a movie. I also love the recommendations I read here and I have some as well.

Don Cooker’s character: Alfred Enoch, Tristan Mack Wilds, Jesse Williams, Brandon Michal Smith and Octavius J. Johnson.
Rachael Smith’s Character: Amanda Stenberg, Jessica Jarrell, Grace Marie Bradey, Quvenzhane Wallis and Jazz Raycole.

I can’t wait to see the movie.

  189. Greta Anderson on June 23, 2020 at 12:54 pm

Great work Funom. It should definitely be a movie. Weldon Soso for your suggestions, I particularly like the Alfred Enoch’s suggestion, his charisma and afro hairstyle are amazingly good features for him to be a perfect match for the Don’s role. Quvenzhane Wallis is so beautiful. She is gorgeous, a goddess, and an amazon. I would love to see her act the Rachael’s role.

Once again, you are amazing, Funom!

  190. Kadian Pinnock on June 23, 2020 at 12:55 pm

The Soul Talkers is a contemporary hit. 90,000+ sales is not bad for a newbie, but I think your book deserves much more than that and I know you will get your rewards soon.

    Great work Funom

  191. Ezra Malana on June 23, 2020 at 1:05 pm

I love Don Cooker so much. I think whoever acts that role will be loved deeply by me. Weldon funom, this book is awesome.

  192. Esionwu Vivian Chiamaka on June 23, 2020 at 1:07 pm

hehehehehe- I love your recommendations here. Byron James, Aml Ameen, Algae Smith or Christopher Massey for Don’s character.

You are an excellent Author Funom

  193. John Trewin on June 23, 2020 at 1:10 pm

Hello Funom. Good story telling here. Get UEFA involved with The Cooker’s rule.

  194. Morayo Adeniyi on June 23, 2020 at 1:13 pm

From your accent, you definitely sound Nigerian. My 9ja people dey represent us well o. Reading your book from Atlanta and I must say that you are simply out of this world. An amazing writer you are, Funom,

  195. Solrun Gretarsdothir on June 23, 2020 at 1:14 pm

Great work Don. I will go for Michael B. Jordan to act as Don while China Anne McCain will be perfect for Rachael. This is a great write.

  196. Alberta Lynn Garvin on June 23, 2020 at 1:19 pm

Wow! You want it to be a movie? That will be great. I am already reading some amazing options here but your choice of Ed Westwick in your new project will be perfect if he takes the role of Pontius Pirlate. My Don Character suggestion include: Dayo Okenyi, and best of all (to me); Stephan James.

  197. Trusia Punioaiga Puma on June 23, 2020 at 1:21 pm

Rchael’s role: Camille Winbush, Chelsea Tavaris or JEssic Parker Kennedy would be wonderful suggestions.

Don’s role: The one and only Harrison Knight would be awesome.

    Great write funom.

  198. J'Anna Sanoj on June 23, 2020 at 1:23 pm

Wonderful story telling. Top notch poetry, awesome football rivalry. You are a genius Funom

  199. Jol Walker on June 23, 2020 at 1:27 pm

Oh you people! There is Harrison Knight. He is best suited for the Don Cooker’s role. What about Sierra Aylina Mcclain as Rachael Smith?

i sincerely wish you all the best in making this a movie Funom. It is nice to see the face of the one who is behind this creative and extra-ordinary piece.

  200. Jannifer Wilkinson on June 23, 2020 at 1:28 pm

    You are awesome Funom.

  201. Donna Dayhart on June 23, 2020 at 1:30 pm

Trestin George, Elijah Kelley, Byron James, Tequan Richmond etc, are some excellent actors this movie should have. This book is extraordinary, I’ve never read a thing like this in my entire life. Good work funom.

  202. charley Oquinn on June 23, 2020 at 1:31 pm

@ Candice Bennette: I have a lot of that sentimental attachment to this book. At a point, I felt like killing anyone who comes near it. Great story telling from Amazing Funom

  203. Lyes TAraki on June 23, 2020 at 1:33 pm

I usually sleep 10-15 mins into reading a novel, but not this one. My mind, body and soul were glued to your lines from start to finish, Thank you very much Funom

  204. Sangeeta Sahu on June 23, 2020 at 1:35 pm

Oh no! My sweet lovely lady, China Anne Mcclain was mentioned in any of these suggestions. What about Madison Pettis, Kyla Pratt and Jurnee Smollest? They will be wonderful for the Rachael’s role.

  205. Brijoh Drey on June 23, 2020 at 1:37 pm

Nice concepts, nice initiatives and great strategies you have here. I came here via your google ad just to read lotfs of comment. You are a great writer, so great.

  206. Kelly Sero on June 23, 2020 at 1:41 pm

I smiled while reading the comments here. @Philip Wright, I doubt if Funom can write all these comments I see here and if actually he did, then he is indeed a genius and a writing-lord for al these ideas to pop out of his head. I believe the “General white” nickname isn’t meant to validate Don cooker who is already a strong personality himself. It is just to show the various passion and interests of this human=god in campus. Funom, you are a genius.

  207. Dr. Hamhani Huzema on June 23, 2020 at 1:45 pm

BEautiful piece of work: Don cooker can be acted by anyone fit to pass the movie audition. And I think people like Noah Gray-Cabay, Jordan Francis, Leon Thomas Ii and Roshon Fegan will do better than the rest. Is it Zoe soul? Yara Shahidi? Jazz Raycole or Rhyon Nicole Brown? They will do the magic for rachel.

Keep the pen writing Funom, your mind is an explosion of ideas and creativity.

  208. Janice Owens on June 23, 2020 at 1:50 pm

For me: Justin Martin will do for the Don’s role
As for Rachael’s, there are so many options:
    1. Rhyon Nicole Brown
    2. Cymphonique
    3. Jasmine Richards
    4. NAya Rivera
    5. Kyla Pratt
    6. Imani Hakim
    7. Parker Mckenna Posey
    8. Paige Hurd
    9. Vanessa Morgan
    10. Keke Palmer

Keep the good work Funom, I will read more works from you.

WOW! I am not happy reading the end of this book. This story is so good. I read comments here and I agree with them, how on earth were you not able to get a literary agent to traditionally publish this book for you? Or are you bent on self-publishing?

  228. Simeon Mahit on June 25, 2020 at 10:43 am

  233. Mustapha Mohammed on June 25, 2020 at 10:52 am

Stick to what you know how to do best which is writing novels and leave Nigeria and Islam alone. Islam is beyond you. Islam will overtake you; Islam is here to stay, islam in Nigeria will flourish. If you don’t maintain your lane, you will die of high blood pressure because of islam. Nonsense

  234. Eldres Dorodell on June 25, 2020 at 10:54 am

Where is this Mustapha person coming from? So they trolled you from your biography to this page? My humble advice to you Funom is not to allow these miscreant ruin your business pages for you. Delete their comments and leave here fresh and void of negativities unless the criticism is sincere, related to the page and constructive. The Soul Talkers movie will be a 9/10 project.

  235. Beni Ntanda on June 25, 2020 at 10:56 am

This book is a combination of your creativity, your craft as a writer, your talent as a poet, your football passion and your personality as a decent guy who is a christian, the lover of the colour white and the respecter of women. I decipher this from your biography… I don’t think there is any novel in the world right now that can beat this.

    A genius you are, Funom

  236. FAllison Dickson-Hall on June 25, 2020 at 11:05 am

Please, make the soul talkers movie.. You still have a daunting task ahead of you but I think you can do it. Your determination and confidence are amazing.

  241. Teresa Williams on June 25, 2020 at 2:05 pm

The Soul Talkers movie would be great. I will be looking forward to it. How you form your characters, link them up, inject suspense in their gradual development, the poetry, the intelligence and maturity of the main character, the love triangle, the captivating and engaging football match (I hate football by the way, only enjoyed it in your book for the first time), the ground breaking ending, the twists, the intense contests, Pontius Pirlate, the birthday celebration of the main character’s mum, the main character’s friends and so on… You are so amazing, truly amazing. This is one hell of a novel. Don’t worry Funom, you will be discovered soon.

A movie with this story will surely be amazing. Looking forward to it.
