When guys are deciding the type of Compliments For Girls that will make an impact, they usually trip themselves up on one of these 3 critical mistakes. Compliments are a sensitive form of flattery; they can come across the wrong way quite easily.

Delivering a compliment effectively can be a very rewarding experience, leaving both people feeling happy and perhaps even more attracted to each other. So to clear up any misconceptions and avoid those awkward situations, let’s talk about the 3 Critical Mistakes Guys Make When Complimenting Girls:

Mistake # 1 – Complimenting Her Appearance

You might be shaking your head in disbelief when you read this; of course women love being complimented on their appearance, right? I mean, everyone compliments women on their looks.

Well, it’s quite a touchy subject for many women, actually.

Women may have very different takes on compliments about their appearance. The reason for this is, women are used to being complimented on their appearance, therefore they read into the sub-text of this type of compliment, because they want to see what your intentions are. If they believe you just want to get into their pants, this compliment can backfire quickly.

The problems occur when a woman believes, whether it’s true or not, that your intentions are questionable. She may take your compliment as ‘coming on too strong’ and subsequently lose respect for you.

Alternatively, In the case she has a poor self-image, she may take your perfectly innocent compliment ‘that she’s pretty’ as a semi-sarcastic remark, or even pity-driven false encouragement!

Therefore, it is better to choose compliments that are less risky, usually revolving around a piece of work she did well, or even a personality trait that you observed in her behaviour. There is much less room for error in these topics.

Mistake # 2 – An Awkward Delivery

The delivery of your compliment is very important. Many guys might find a pause in the conversation, and just awkwardly blurt the compliment out, and wait to see how she reacts. This isn’t smooth! She will probably feel uncomfortable and may even ignore it.

You want to interrupt something you are already saying, and just slip the compliment in casually mid-sentence, for example:

“I was walking down the street and I saw this little old lady…*pause quickly* Wow, I just thought about how you really take care of your family, that’s a great trait to have…Haha, anyway…this little old lady looked really lost…”

Notice how there is very little pausing, and you definitely don’t look for her reaction, you just keep right on talking. This really gives a feeling of sincerity to the compliment, as it comes across as being spontaneous and heartfelt.

Mistake # 3 – Explaining Yourself

Many times, guys will feel the compliment came across badly, or left the wrong impression. They will try to ‘make up’ for it by launching into a big debate on what the compliment meant, how he feels about her, etc etc

Really, it just gets messy. You want to avoid this situation by just accepting the outcome. If she does have a negative reaction, simply smile and say ‘That was supposed to be a compliment’, and again, keep talking. The more you make a big deal out of it, the more awkward it becomes.

An even better alternative would be to laugh about it, point out how it was pretty awkward and have a laugh. She will appreciate that you feel the same way she does, and you will probably get out without too much damage done.
